“Thank you for the $100,000” says battler Hunter lottery winner
A registered player of Lucky Lotteries from the Hunter region has taken out first prize of $100,000 in $2 Jackpot Lottery draw 9170, which was held this morning.
Today’s first prize winning ticket, number 95175, was sold at Waratah Newsagency, Shop 8, Waratah Village Shopping Centre, 91 Turton Road in Waratah.
As the winner is a member of Players Club, NSW Lotteries officials were able to contact them by phone to let them know the good news of the win.
The winner, a lady in her 70s, had a pleasant shock with the good news.
“I’m a real battler and I’ve had to struggle a lot in my life. I can’t believe I’ve won it,” she said.
“I’ve been buying lottery tickets all my life and this is like a dream. Thank you for the $100,000,” said the happy winner.
“I don’t know what I will do with the money, but it will help me a lot and I might take a holiday,” she said.
Mr Leslie Perry, owner of Waratah Newsagency was delighted to hear about today’s draw result.
“I think the $100,000 first prize win is a great bonus for the person who’s won. It’s good that someone has won the money so close to Christmas,” said Mr Perry.
“This is our second major win in Lucky Lotteries. Earlier in the year, one of our customers won the $10,000 second prize in the $2 Jackpot Lottery. It was good.” he said.
“The staff get very excited about selling winning tickets. We’ll put up a sign to congratulate the winner,” he said.
“I think being a registered player is the best thing you can do if you play lotteries for the security of protecting your prize,” Mr Perry said.
By becoming a NSW Lotteries Players Club member for just $3.30 a year, when buying tickets, players ensure that they can be contacted with news of a major win.
The jackpot was not won this morning and now stands at $4,700,000 for the next $2 Jackpot Lottery draw 9171.
