A lucky customer who purchased their Saturday Lotto ticket from Wallsend Plaza Newsagency in the Hunter region became an instant millionaire when their numbers were drawn in Saturday night’s Lotto draw.
Although Wallsend’s newest millionaire is a member of the NSW Lotteries Players Club, NSW Lotteries officials have been unable to contact the winner by telephone. A letter informing them of their windfall will be sent in the mail.
“I was so happy when I saw the message from NSW Lotteries yesterday morning telling us we sold a million dollar winner,” Irene Knight, proprietor of Wallsend Plaza Newsagency said this morning.
“It’s unbelievable to think we’ve made someone a millionaire.
“I’ve had this shop for just over a year now, we’ve had plenty of luck but it feels great to have a $1 million win.
“This win is already the talk of the town, everyone is wondering who the lucky winner is,” Ms Knight added.
The winning numbers from Saturday night’s $4 million Lotto draw were 16, 2, 34, 23, 39, and 14, with the supplementary numbers 12 and 17.
Saturday Lotto’s $4 million prize pool was shared among four winners nationally. Along with the winning entry sold in NSW one winning entry was sold by Tattersall’s, the Victorian based lottery operator, and two winning entries were sold by Golden Casket in Queensland.
This Saturday, Lotto is offering a massive $20 million first division prize in the Halloween Saturday Lotto Superdraw.
