Monday Lotto’s $8.5 million jackpot prize pool was won by a single entry purchased in the Sydney suburb of Greystanes.
The $8.5 million prize payout is the biggest win ever by a NSW player in Monday, Wednesday or Saturday Lotto, beating the old record set in January 2009 when a 52 year-old Sydney woman picked up $6 million in Wednesday Lotto.
Greystanes’ mystery winner came forward early this morning to claim their $8.5 million prize. Lotto’s biggest individual prize-winner wishes to remain anonymous.
The winning ticket was purchased from Greystanes Centre Newsagency at Shop 13, Greystanes Shopping Mall, Greystanes.
“We are all so excited, what an accolade to have, we are the shop that sold Lotto’s biggest NSW prize. We are very proud, just delighted,” Robyn Skaines, manager of Greystanes Centre Newsagency said this morning.
“We are already making up signs and decorating the shop, this news is worth celebrating.
“I can’t even begin to imagine how the winner must be feeling this morning. They must be very shocked. I’m sure they will be retiring from the workforce now that they are a multi-millionaire thanks to Lotto,” Ms Skaines added.
The winning numbers from Monday night’s Lotto draw were 39, 21, 9, 11, 40 and 31, with the supplementary numbers 38 and 12.
This week marks the 30th anniversary of Lotto. Since the first draw on 5 November 1979, Lotto has made more than 950 NSW residents millionaires.
