Is this Sydney’s luckiest Lotto winner? Winner scores five division one wins on one ticket
A single entry purchased in Sydney’s inner western suburb of Ashfield scored five of eight shares in last night’s $1 million Wednesday Lotto draw.
Each winning share is worth $125,000, with Ashfield’s lucky winner scoring a total of more than $643,000 in division one and other divisional prizes.
“There have been occasions where people have had multiple wins on one ticket, as far as we can determine this could be the first time we have seen five division one wins on a single ticket,” NSW Lotteries Communications Manager John Vineburg said.
“It is certainly a very unusual occurrence and I look forward to hearing the winner’s reaction to their amazing good luck,” Mr Vineburg added.
The winning entry - purchased from Westend Newsagency at 279 Liverpool Road, Ashfield – belongs to a member of the NSW Lotteries Players Club, NSW Lotteries officials, who are keen to speak to Ashfield’s multiple Lotto winner, have been unable to contact the winner by phone.
Proprietor of Westend Newsagency, Ly Ung, is busy telling his customers that one of them could be Lotto’s luckiest winner.
“We’ve sold lots of division one wins before, but to sell five in one draw is amazing, it must be some sort of record,” Mr Ung said.
“Everyone is really surprised to hear the news and plenty of people are checking their tickets with great enthusiasm,” Mr Ung added.
Two more $125,000 shares were sold in the Sydney Suburbs of Beecroft and Eastwood. As the owners of both winning tickets are not members of Players Club, NSW Lotteries officials have no way of attempting to contact them with the good news.
Beecroft’s winning entry was sold from Beecroft Newsagency at 14 Hannah Street, Beecroft.
The $125,000 winning ticket sold in Eastwood was purchased from ZMZ Eastwood Newsagency at 21 Railway Parade, Eastwood.
Along with Sydney’s seven winners another $125,000 division one winning entry was sold in South Australia.
The winning numbers from Wednesday night’s $1 million Lotto draw were 23, 5, 21, 42, 36 and 7, with the supplementary numbers 29 and 11.
